Barney’s has always been about excitement, fun, the joll, a place to let your hair down and coupled with that one of the best positions next to the sea for tourists, business people and locals alike.
Barney’s celebrates going into its 20th year of operation this December after a successful year including record numbers of world cup fans paying us a visit and enjoying our synonymous live broadcasts of all sporting fixtures and games on the big screens.
Barney’s is one of the busiest sport pubs in PE and this year again attained the rights to brag that we are the number 1 Castle Draught outlet in the country.
Many people may remember our opening months when liquor laws were such that you had to take a meal on a Sunday before you could have a beer and thus buying a mini hot dog for 50c at the door to comply with this rule.
You also can’t forget the students and the souvenirs that they have lifted over the years like a Sunday roast straight from the Carvery Buffet as it came out from the kitchen on a busy day or the “Thirsty Bugga” club t-shirts that were collected with your discount book.
With non-stop live entertainment 7 days a week over the years Barney’s has played venue to many local and aspiring artists and some famous, who can forget sitting on The Deck in the sun listening to your favourite tune quaffing a beer with the waves splashing in the background.

Bands and muso’s include - TINS, Geoff Goode & Graham Barnes, Paul Zeeman and Blake Wilken, Steel with Deon Mattheus and family, The odd visit from Dozi, The Blarney Brothers, Abbot and Crab Brad and Darren Peens who went on to form Eminent Child Mark Botha with Back to Basix and Pumping Peet with Mud and Honey, Jonathan, Wayne Kallis, Glen Webster White Mischief with Craig, Lee Paul Lindley, Clair and Charl Live Brenton & Laure in many bands such as Machine & Ten story fall and Skin Trade and many more who hopefully will all make an appearance at our Barney’s Reunion Party on our Birthday Saturday 11 December. We may want to have a theme either a back to school dress up theme or something for this, we are hoping to have music from about 2pm till close with compulsory mini hot dog at the door for 50c (Give this to a charity).
